There are two practical methods of wire rope non-destructive inspection – visual and magnetic. Visual inspection, being tiresome and subjective, allows revealing defects located on the rope surface. Magnetic method can detect both outer and inner defects, and also is capable of assessment of corrosion and abrasion level by measuring loss of rope’ metallic cross-section.
