Silk is a braided nonabsorbable natural thread with braided core. Has a heightened breaking strength. It is known that the stronger a thread the better tissues can be sewed with lower thread diameter. And that the more thread diameter the better weight of stayed foreign body in an organism, hence low tissue reaction. Silk is used in general surgery, skin, cardiovascular, plastic, gastrointestinal, ophthalmic and microsurgery.
