Description

Spherical tanks and gas-holders are designed to store under pressure various gaseous products, liquefied hydrocarbon gases (LHG), liquid chemical products, gas- and oil products (butane-butene, isopentane, hexane, ammonia, etc.), as well as inert gases and air.

Compared to horizontal tanks, spherical tanks can reduce the area of a tank farm by two and more times with the same product storage capacity. In addition, the number of sensors and controls mounted on each tank is only one third of the horizontal option, just as only a third of the standard length of product pipes between tanks on the tank farm is required. A spherical tank has an in-tank inspection ladder, a cap service platform, catwalks, a tunnel ladder, nozzles, inspection wells and so on. Tanks are assembled by personnel from dedicated units of Uralhimmash.
