Basic information
JSC "State Optical Institute named after S.Vavilov" (GOI) was formed on the basis of the State Optical Institute, established in 1918 on the initiative of Dmitry Rozhdestvensky.
In 1931, the GOI was "... assigned the functions of the Leading Institute for Optics - methodically organizing, by its example, a high level of work and the actions of all industries based on optics ...".
By order of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Russia No. 478 of 04/02/2009, GOI was entrusted with the functions of a leading research organization in optics in the field of industrial and defense-industrial complex.
GOI is included as a leading scientific organization in the holding of Shvabe JSC, which unites the main optical-electronic and optical-mechanical enterprises of Russia.
The purpose of the Holding is to increase competitiveness in the global market of the Russian optical-electronic industry, to implement the tasks of developing and producing optical-electronic systems for military and civilian purposes, high-tech medical equipment and high-tech civilian products.
Holding JSC "Shvabe" is part of the corporation "Rostec", unites the main Russian enterprises of the optical-electronic industry.
