“Astana Solar” LLP is a subsidiary of “Kazatomprom” company implementing a project on production of photovoltaic modules using Kazakhstani silicon “KazPV”. The purpose of the project is to create a fully vertically integrated production cycle of photovoltaic modules, form extraction and procession of silicon to assembly of solar panels. The project has been included into the State Program on Accelerated Industrial-Innovative Development and into the Industrialization Map of Kazakhstan. The interest of Kazakhstan in development of renewable energy is also seen in the decision of the Head of State to personally attend the ceremony of launching the first in Kazakhstan plant on production of photovoltaic modules on December 25, 2012.The plant equipped with the modern European automated equipment will be producing photovoltaic modules with the capacity of 50 megawatt and later with the capacity of up to 100 magawatt.Production of photovoltaic modules has the certificate of conformity to the required norms: IEC61215/IEC61730-1/IEC61730-2, which was issued by European certification company “Certisolis”. Besides, the enterprise has introduced the integrated system of quality management as well as the environmental management, occupational safety management and health management in accordance with ISO 9001:2008, ISO 14001:2006 and OHSAS 18001:2007The building of the plant is a unique construction itself at the scale of our country. The peculiarity of the building is in its roof, which is used for converting the sunlight and wind into electricity. Moreover, heat pump units are installed in the territory of the plant and used for generation of heat energy.More than 200 local professionals are employed at the plant, and the majority of them graduated from the leading foreign universities and underwent special courses abroad. *The information is taken from public sources.
