The Singapore Tourism Board (STB) is the lead development agency for tourism, one of Singapore’s key economic sectors. Together with industry partners and the community, we shape a dynamic Singapore tourism landscape. We bring the Passion Made Possible brand to life by differentiating Singapore as a vibrant destination that inspires people to share and deepen their passions.
In the wake of the pandemic, Singapore is transforming ways of business conducting, seeking and finding new opportunities for doing business in the MICE industry and creating solutions for hybrid events.
● Singapore has begun gradual resumption of MICE events.
Singapore Tourism Board (STB) has been accepting applications for organisers to pilot Meetings, Incentives, Conventions and Exhibitions (MICE) events of up to 250 attendees from 1 October 2020.
The gradual resumption of business events will help maintain Singapore’s position as a leading MICE hub and retain critical capabilities, while safeguarding jobs and livelihoods in the industry and other related sectors.
Organisers who apply to pilot events with up to 250 attendees must demonstrate their ability to implement Safe Management Measures to meet a set of health and safety outcomes.
To guide the MICE industry in developing its agility and building resilience post-COVID-19, the Singapore Association of Convention and Exhibition Organisers and Suppliers (SACEOS) is collaborating with STB and Enterprise Singapore (ESG) to formulate an Event Industry Resilience Roadmap (IRR).
● The key course is enabling safe and innovative visitor experiences.
Apart from adopting best practices in safety, hygiene and sanitisation, Singapore’s MICE businesses have also experimented with innovative digital solutions such as technology to support the creation of virtual and hybrid business events.
The Alliance for Action on Enabling Safe and Innovative Visitor Experiences explores and pioneers new ways to facilitate safe and innovative visitor experiences in a COVID-19 environment. Lately a new prototype for larger tradeshows and safe visitor experiences has been developed. It will be tested at a few tradeshows, starting with a new event in November called TravelRevive – powered by ITB Asia & STB.
· Hybrid events – a new format for business life
The new studio has been launched at Sands Expo and Convention Centre (Marina Bay Sands).
It has been designed as an industry-first hybrid event solution to accommodate a live studio audience with a maximum capacity of 50 persons at any one time, the hybrid broadcast studio – which offers broadcast-quality live-streaming capabilities and hologram functionalities – will act as the central hub for event planners looking to produce hybrid meetings in the new era.
· Sanitation & safety – key priorities for pandemic time
An initiative supported by various agencies of the Singapore Government and audited by third party assessors, the SG Clean quality mark is a stamp of assurance that establishments are upholding rigorous, sector-specific sanitation and hygiene practices.
More than 5,000 local establishments and prominent business event venues around Singapore have been awarded this certification, which allows event organisers, delegates and business travellers to do business with peace of mind.
